Maths Professional Learning Community Overview 2018 – 2019

We’re excited to be continuing our Maths Professional Learning Community into year 2! See below the outline for the growth and development this year – following on from feedback and reflections on year 1, we have tweaked the plan.

Maths PLC and Parental Engagement Overview 2018 2019



1: October 15th – Full Day Launch: review of the guidance, action planning/implementation, leadership skills and coaching input
2: November 14th: 2.30 – 4.30 – Twilight Input – Parental Engagement: What is the evidence on parental engagement? What can best support learning beyond our school gates?

3: January 16th: 2.30 – 4.30 Twilight Input – Recommendation 1 linked to Pitch and Progression – A Curriculum Design embedded with Cognitive Science (links to revision strategies)

February 13th: Network Event – 4pm – 5pm: Bring and Share evidence and coaching touch point

Gap Task: February – July: Triad Observations of Peer-Practice and Collaborative Work

4 – March 13th: 2.30 – 4.30 Twilight Input – Working Walls and Learning Environment for Metacognition

5 – June 5th: 2.30 – 4.30 Twilight Input – Recommendation 2 – Representations and Manipulatives – A Review
July 3rd: Network Event – 4pm – 5pm: Bring and Share evidence and coaching touch point

6 – July 17th: 2.30 – 4.30 Twilight Input – Review and Reflect – Re-visioning for Sustained Impact in 2019-2020



Nicol Winfield is Maths Lead at the Research School and Wyndham Primary Academy, an accredited Teaching for Maths Mastery Specialist with the NCETM and SLE in Maths. She comes from a primary background and works with a number of secondaries on maths transition projects.
